We homed Daisy in July 2017 from Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge (SCARS). Due to her history of neglect and abuse, Daisy was a special care rescue and required a very specific type of home. We fitted the mould perfectly. Rocky, Pebble, Aura and Maebe were all temperament tested by SCARS, before they were safely introduced to Daisy.  Our home was checked for suitability before we welcomed a very thin girl weighing only 22kg, less than half the healthy weight for a dog of her breeding.

Daisy has been a challenge in the early days, due to the abuse she likely endured as we got to know her and for her to learn to trust us. Our fur family immediately welcomed her into their pack as if she was one of their own, Daisy even had her very on spot reserved on the sofa and our bed. They have certainly rubbed off on her as Daisy thinks she’s a Ridgeback!!

Parts have been challenging, mostly the path of destruction and teaching the other some not so good habits like counter surfing, not that ridgies really need to learn that! During the early days my mother-in-law was the first to find Daisy asleep on the kitchen counter, a habit that she quickly grew out of thankfully.

Rescuing her has been worth it and she is a very loving, loyal dog. Her extra special talents including being Mumma Dukie when Kane then later Ren joined our family. She adores pups!
